Responsibilities
Repairs and opens locks, makes keys, and changes lock combinations, using hand tools and special equipment. Uses a Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Uses a Tablet to track work orders, request material, add labor and material used against a work order.
Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs to various types of locks under the Lock Shop requirements.
Installs and repairs locks (including mechanical and electronic cipher locks).
Removes interior and exterior finishes on safe and vaults and then applies new spray on finishes.
Inserts new or repaired tumblers into locks so combinations can be changed.
Provides training to customers on how to set their own combinations.
Disassembles mechanical or electrical locking devices, repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs and other parts using hand tools and then reassembles locks.
Repairs and adjusts safes, vault doors and vault components using hand tools, drill presses and welding equipment with a cutting apparatus.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Detention facility lock and controls experience preferred but not required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain active secret clearance.
Experience
2-5 years of related work experience.
Skills
Must be able to utilize fiber optic camera equipment.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of lock picking devices, code cutting devices, hand/power tools and key machines.
Ability to manage multiple priorities when it comes to making on the spot decisions for security and safety concerns related to the work ordered equipment.
Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follows safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment.
Work Conditions
Must be able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
Must be able to lift 25lbs continuously and 50lbs intermittently.
Must be able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods.
Required to observe all safety and health requirements for office environment.
Must have professional appearance, consistent with local customs.
